Ming Tombs: As one of the most popular attractions in Beijing, Ming Tombs are located 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing. They were built within a natural basin, butted on two sides by the Yanshan Mountain Range, which was said to stop winds carrying evil spirits into the area. Ming Tombs are typical examples of Chinese emperors' mausoleums and the best testimony of China's long history and civilization. Dingling Tomb, also known as the Underground Palace, is the first imperial tomb to have been excavated in China. While Changling Tomb was the first and largest one built in the area.
