City: It was the imperial palaces of the Ming
and Qing dynasties, now known as the Palace Museum.
Located at the exact center of Beijing, Forbidden
City is the largest and best-preserved collection
of ancient buildings in China, covering a floor
space of 720,000 square meters, and having 9,999
Square: The square, measuring 880 meters from
north to south and 500 meters from west to east,
is seated at the center of Beijing. Tiananmen Gate
on the northern edge of the square used to be the
front gate of Forbidden City - the imperial palace
of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Around Tiananmen Square,
tourist can find National Museum of China, Great
Hall of the People, Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall
and Monument to the People's Heroes.
Palace: Initially built in 1750 by Emperor Qianglong
of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it is the most celebrated
imperial garden in China. The Summer Palace covers
an area of 290 hectares (717 acres) and holds over
3000 houses. The palace features hundreds of architecturally
distinct buildings, temples, halls, pavilions, pagodas,
bridges and corridors dispersed among magnificent
and elegant gardens.
After breakfast, pay a visit
to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. See the appearance
of the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) at
Wall: One of the true architectural wonders
of the world. It was first built about 2500 years
ago, during the period of the Warring States,
and was extended and fortified by subsequent dynasties:
Qin, Han and Ming, the Great Wall extends to more
than 5,000 kilometers.
Tombs: As one of the most popular attractions
in Beijing, Ming Tombs are located 50 kilometers
northwest of Beijing. They were built within a
natural basin, butted on two sides by the Yanshan
Mountain Range, which was said to stop winds carrying
evil spirits into the area. Ming Tombs are typical
examples of Chinese emperors' mausoleums and the
best testimony of China's long history and civilization.
Dingling Tomb, also known as the Underground Palace,
is the first imperial tomb to have been excavated
in China. While Changling Tomb was the first and
largest one built in the area.

of Heaven: Emperor Yong Le of the Ming dynasty
decided 560 years ago to build a temple where
the emperors could worship heaven, a ritual which
he hoped would serve to perpetuate imperial rule,
the result was the Temple of Heaven. Situated
in southern Beijing, the Temple of Heaven park
covers 273 hectares, its main structures are two
groups of buildings on a north-south axis. The
temple buildings and surrounding area make up
one of the largest public parks in Beijing.
Lama Temple: The lamasery was built in 1694.
The temple's bell tower is the first structure
reached after passing through the front gates,
but the huge bell itself has been placed outside
the tower for all to see. The temple is a working
lamasery so it's closed early in the mornings
for prayer. With its beautifully landscaped gardens,
stunning frescoes and tapestries, and incredible
carpentry, the temple is a must for your Beijing

Visit Imperial Mountain Resort
and Pule Temple.
Imperial Mountain Resort:
Built from 1703 to 1792, it is a grand architectural
complex incorporating imperial palaces, beautiful
gardens and marvelous natural scenery. The resort
was built for royal families to spend the hot summer
months. Covering an area of 564 square meters, it
is the largest and best-preserved imperial palace
outside of the capital Beijing.
Built in 1766, it is one of the Eight Outer Temples
in Chengde. Covering an area of 24,000, the temple
houses many exquisite Buddha statues. The temple
features a combination of Chinese-style and Tibetan-style

After breakfast, explore the Putuo Zongcheng Temple
and the Puning Temple. Have lunch, then be transferred
to Chengde station and take train back to Beijing.

Putuo Zongcheng Temple:
Covering an area of 220,000 square meters, it is
a Buddhist temple built between 1767 and 1771. The
temple greatly follows the style of the Potala Palace
in Tibet, featuring about 60 elegant buildings.
Many of its halls and pavilions are adorned with
copper and gold tiled roofs, adding to the splendor
of the site.
Built in 1755, the temple houses the world's tallest
wooden sculpture of the Bodhisattva (22.28-meter-high).
The Bodhisattva sculpture has 42 arms in various
sizes carrying all kinds of musical instruments.
These temples, along with the Chengde Mountain Resort,
were included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage
List in 1994.
