Hefei
Hefei (population 4.3
million ) is the economic, political, cultural,
transportation, tourism and information
centre. It lies between Jianghuai (Yangtze
River and Huaihe River) and at the bank
of Lake Chao. It is an ancient city with
a history of more than 2,200 years. Hefei
is one of the three garden cities approved
by the state, and reputed as the green city.
Prime tourist attractions in the city include
Baogong (Bao Zhen) Cultural Park, the Former
Residence of Li Hongzhang (1823-1901), Ancient
Xiaoyaojin Battlefield, Anhui Hall of Celebrities,
and Hefei Hall of Science and Technology.
At present, the city boosts 2 five-star
hotels, 4 four-star hotels, and 12 three-star
hotels. Also there are more than 70 domestic
and international travel agencies.
